May Day was a celebration once observed on May 1st.  I remember making cards and baskets.  We would fill them with candy, flowers or other small gifts.  Take them to a friend's home and leave them at the front door.  Then we would run away as fast as we could because if they caught you, you had to KISS them!  It was so much fun.
